The Planets is a seven-movement orchestral suite composed by Gustav Holst between 1914 and 1917. It received its private premiere at Queen's Hall in London on 29 September 1918 (conducted by Adrian Boult) and its first complete public performance by the London Symphony Orchestra on 15 November 1920. The suite quickly became one of the most popular orchestral works of the 20th century, has been widely recorded, and has had notable influence on later film and orchestral composers.
