w/ Girlgoyle & Kitchen Congregation
The Fourth Wall is a melodic noise rock band from Portland, OR, originally from Oahu, HI.
With their new album, Memories of the Future, The Fourth Wall takes cues from the shoegaze era of distorted and layered sounds, but interjects them with orchestral washes and choral-like vocal harmonies. Memories of the Future, takes its inspiration from past visions of the future during a present that seems to foreclose the potential for any future whatsoever. With the death of possibility, we have a politics trapped in retrograde and a consumer culture that overwhelmingly relies on nostalgic desire. Memories of the Future asks, how do we deal with the inertia of all our lost futures?
