w/ Femme Cell & Icecaps
Portland, Oregon’s How Strange It Is is the soundtrack to untangling a ball of yarn. Or living your life. Whichever scenario best describes your current situation. Their latest work, “THERE IS NO EVIL,” follows the band as they wander around lush, layered, slowcore-tinted soundscapes while still always keeping their indie rock sensibilities about them. Swapping from spacey and synth-driven to fuzzed-out, driving guitars at the drop of a dime with ease. The group expertly weaves a modern, post-punk thread through winding ’90s-inspired riffs. At times, “THERE IS NO EVIL” feels genuinely experimental. As if it’s possible we’re hearing the
group try some of these sounds on for size, for the very first time. Frantic walls of sound often fade into twinkling melodies, resulting in a sort of sonic spiralling. At other moments, “THERE IS NO EVIL” feels strangely familiar, comforting, and like it’s taking cues from that old favorite record of yours that you’ll never get tired of. And yet, because there’s so much to hear and take in, every listen invites listeners to appreciate something new.
THIS EVENT IS 21+ AND GENERAL ADMISSION. NO MINORS.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. PLEASE, DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE PURCHASING. NO REFUNDS.
