Eric Alterman (born January 14, 1960) is an American historian, journalist, and CUNY Distinguished Professor of English and Journalism at Brooklyn College. He is the author of twelve books, including What Liberal Media? and Lying in State, and has won the 1993 George Orwell Award as well as multiple Mirror Awards for media commentary.
