DJ Shannon "Action Slacks" hails from the MIGHTY Mid-West where she grew up on a healthy dose of Motown and Chicago soul. In 1994 she migrated to the Northwest and continued her formal education focusing on the history of R&B and soul music and its connection to the Civil Rights Movement and the fight for social justice.
For 9 years beginning in 1996, she produced and hosted a weekly radio program "Soul Kitchen" on KAOS in Olympia, Wa (riot grrrl city, usa).
At the turn of the millennium, DJ Shannon (now "Action Slacks") brought her act to the dance floor. She has been spinning grooves to make you move ever since. After nearly 20 years fighting in the trenches for soul, "Action Slacks" is very pleased to see the recent resurgence in 1960s soul music and she wants to make sure that people remember its roots.
